Should you wear bright colours at a funeral? – For a long time, a typical funeral would involve solemn looking people dressed in smart black clothes. However, an increasing number of families are asking funeral attendees to wear bright colours, or even fancy dress in an attempt to focus on happy memories of the deceased.
Weston Hospicecare Charity Day – Handing over our cheque to Rachel at Weston Hospicecare for £1800 raised at our charity day. Another cheque for £500 has been sent to Macmillan Cancer Support. — at Weston Hospicecare.
It’s always lovely to receive letters of thanks from families and officiants.
Thank you very much for the support you gave Bath Quakers – and me in particular – at the funeral at Haycombe on Tuesday.
I had attended Quaker funerals of course but I had never been the Elder-in-charge at such a funeral before. I was nervous, but you were wonderfully reassuring and helpful, allowing us to do what we needed to, guided by your tactful observations based on long experience.
Your staff were exemplary too: like you, they were professional but with the human touch that is so important.
It made all the difference, and I know that the family valued our work together.
With warmest good wishes, Judith
